Bhante Debongshi, RP (Qualifying)
Chief Director & Meditation Teacher

A Little Bit About me

I am a chief director of DMC, a meditation teacher and a registered psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), a professional member of the Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) with a Master's degree in counselling psychology dedicated to assisting individuals grappling with anxiety, depression trauma, PTSD, and other mental health-related challenges by equipping them with tools and techniques for understanding the art of conscious and healthy living. As an integral component of my distinctive spiritual training, I provide holistically integrated psychotherapy from a non-judgmental perspective. As a trained spiritual counsellor, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and meditation teacher, I have an extensive 30-year tenure in the counselling field. My commitment to this cause materialized in the establishment of a charitable organization in Saskatchewan, where I have effectively engaged with diverse populations, spanning adults, adolescents, couples, and families, offering both individual and group counselling services across Canada. With an overarching goal of supporting and empowering individuals throughout their healing process, I am devoted to effecting positive change in their lives. My enthusiasm for ongoing learning, continuous enhancement of spiritual-oriented therapeutic skills, and my capacity to guide clients in their healing journey reflect my unwavering commitment to my professional development and client well-being.

My Qualifications:

Growing up in a multicultural and spiritual atmosphere of traditions, I gained a broad range of lived experiences in terms of mental health and spirituality. I graduated from the University of Dhaka with an honorary degree in Buddhist studies. I studied psychology and received an Effective Leadership through Emotional Intelligence certification from the University of Oxford, England. I earned a master's certificate in project management from the University of Saskatchewan and an M.A. in counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, New Brunswick. My main research area is behavioural Science. I am also a Registered Psychotherapist licensed from the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I am keen on exploring the Science of mind and behaviour and fostering a profound spiritual understanding. For over thirty years, I have spent most of my time practicing spirituality and meditation based on the four foundations of mindfulness while training in two traditions, Vipassana and Zen Meditation. I enhanced transcendental knowledge from different spiritual grounds and personal practices. I completed the 16th Zen traditional education curricula at the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order. My passion for learning and serving others has taken me across Asia and North America. In 2014, I founded a Charity with a mission to support those with mental disorders, a vision that has since evolved into a unique multicultural hub. This hub, which I am proud to lead, offers a range of programs and events, including learning seminars and meditation programs, all designed to promote quality of life, universal peace, and collective happiness.
Modalities of Therapy

The psychospiritual-oriented solution-focused psychotherapy is a universally applicable treatment process. I combined psychotherapy and spiritual coping skills to strengthen client’s mental health and well-being, the most important factors at every stage of life. It embodies the implementation of my holistic solution-focused approach, but I often incorporate other modalities, such as CBT, cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative and humanistic therapy, and evidence-based practices, to provide the proper treatment clients need. I create a space where you can safely share your story, feel supported, and understand your situation better to achieve your goal. The primary areas of specialization include trauma, relationships, domestic violence, addiction, stress reduction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, family conflicts, dealing with emotional pain and other psychological issues. My approach is non-judgmental, compassion-based and collaborative, and my goal is to help you identify your abilities and strengths and guide you in making changes to reach your goals. I offer 15 minutes free consultation. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss your situation.
What can DMC offer?

Growing up in a multicultural and spiritual atmosphere with many traditions, I gained extensive skills and experience in mental and spiritual health. Additionally, I have a master's degree in psychology. In this capacity, as a trained spiritual counsellor, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and meditation teacher, I boast an extensive 30-year tenure in the spiritual counselling field. I established DMC to support individuals in developing spiritual health and well-being and facilitate affordable therapy, beginning from low cost to no cost, depending on the client's situation.  So, if you are going through a tough time and you feel stuck, whether it's from anxiety, depression, or any other mental pressure, psychospiritual-oriented solution-focused psychotherapy may be a good fit for you to make a difference. At DMC, clients learn to equip themselves to communicate better and work through conflicts. I offer psychospiritual-based solution-focused counselling tools and techniques for self-empowerment clients need and help them find a better way to reach their goals.
